It has been 8 months almost since surgery and I have been on a weight gain. 7.7 lbs more in two weeks. Anyone have ideas to get back on the losing train? I need ideas to get this weight gain over with and losing again. HELP!!!!

This works for me.  I had an 8 pound bounce back.  I have no problem keeping my weight where I want it or getting off the excess when I first completely eliminate white starchy carbs like bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, rice, crackers, sugar, etc.  When I faithfully eliminate high carb food, drink plenty of water, my shakes and eat my lean meats, vegetables, yogurt, and walk faithfully the weight comes off easily.

I eat alot of salad with grilled chicken.  I will make a huge salad with everything I like in it.  I will grill chicken the way I like it.  When I need to drop a few pounds.  I will allow myself as much salad as I want...sometimes w/o meat, sometimes with and eat it throughout the day.  It helps keep me full while I am detoxing from carbs.  I really am amazed how easy it is to maintain when first I am honest about what I am eating (thosepesky  bites here and there that add up) and simply stay on plan.

Walking has been the exercise that has helped me the most while on this journey.  Just keep doing what you know to do.  At 8 months out, I still had many more months where I lost weight.

Thank you. I will keep to my protein shake and meats. Stay away from everything else. And see if it kicks me back to weight loss. Thanks again for the info and help.

My advice to you is to just start logging your intake.  Count absolutely everything with a calorie.  By logging, you can see if there are more calories than you intended, too much sodium - water retention, etc.

Just get back on track and focus on the goal.  Remember protein 1st -- keeps you full longer too.

I haven't logged for the longest time. It will help to know where I am going wrong. I know that I snack here and there especially on things I shouldn't be. I know this is just a tool to help lose weight. I didn't realize how fast I can screw it up. Thanks for the info and help. I will start logging today.

If you aren't logging your foods at least periodically, if not everyday, then it's easy to assume you are getting less fat, carbs and calories than you really are.

Start by taking a good long hard look at everything that is going into your mouth - there are a few things that have probably slid in that shouldn't, whether it's too many carbs, too many calories.

Then take a look at your exercising.  Are you?  Are you enough?  Maybe you need to do more?
